Hours Of Operation Quality care of the injured student-athlete is the foremost concern of the Wagner College athletic training staff. The team approach has proven to be the most effective means of caring for the student-athlete. The Wagner College athletic trainers are all members of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). The NATA is a professional organization recognized by the American Medical Association, which was established for the purpose of advancing, assisting, and educating athletic trainers.
At the collegiate level, the physical demand of student-athletes can often result in athletic injuries, both minor and serious. Here lies the core of the athletic trainers expertise: the prevention, evaluation, recognition and treatment of injuries, and the rehabilitation of the student-athlete. At Wagner College, the student-athletes have a professional and enthusiastic athletic training staff to rely upon. Not only does the staff provide daily coverage of practices and contests, but they also administer treatments, conduct rehabilitation protocols, and serve as informational resources in the areas of health, fitness, and nutrition. To add to their top-notched medical care, Wagner College has created a state of the art Athletic Training Facility as a part of the newly built $11 million Spiro Sports Center. To supplement and further strengthen the Seahawk Athletic Training Staff, Wagner College has the assistance of Dr. Joseph A. Suarez, Dr. Albert B. Accettola, Jr., Dr. Joseph Giovinazzo, Dr. John P. Reilly, Dr. David Drucker, Dr. Debroah Henley and Dr. Vincent Ruggiero as team physicians, who all specialize in sports medicine and orthopaedics. All are Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeons and they bring to Wagner over 100 years of experience and expertise in treating athletic-related injuries. They provide to the athletes care imbued in the rich Wagner College tradition which spans six decades since the group's emeritus partner, Dr. Albert B. Accettola, Sr. began caring for the program.
