Henry C. "Hank" Pedro
Basketball
Class of 1965

A member of the Wagner College basketball and baseball teams from 1962-65, Pedro is currently eight on the all-time scoring list with 1,298 points. Pedro was second on the team in scoring in 1962 and 1963 and led both the team and the Mid-Atlantic Conference in scoring in 1964 and 1965, averaging 21.0 points his junior year and 21.4 points in his senior season. Pedro was named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association First Team in both his junior and senior season. In 1965, Pedro was tabbed as a Little All-American honorable mention by the Associated Press. A co-captain of the basketball team his senior season, he scored 45 points and made a school record 21 field goals against Washington College, December 17, 1964. One of Pedro's fondest memories was when he hit the game-winner in overtime against seventh-ranked NYU. Pedro got the ball with five seconds on the clock, dribbled until he was in a straight line with the basket and canned a jumper for a 77-76 Wagner win. After his four-year career came to an end Pedro was invited to a professional basketball tryout with both the New York Knicks and the St. Louis Hawks. Henry C. "Hank" Pedro and his wife Denise reside in Staten Island, NY. He has four children, Gregory, Scott, Lauren, and Marcus. Pedro works in sales/marketing with Quick International Courier Company.
